Senzokuike Park - Myofukuji Temple

Original Myofukuji Temple in Nihombashi suffered fire in 1657 and moved to Asakusa. Then Great Kanto Earthquake in 1927 destroyed this temple again.

It's combined with a hermitage here as Myofukuji Temple.

This hermitage was built after Priest Nichiren stopped by and washed his legs in the pond on his trip in 1282.

Senzokuite means "Washing Legs Pond".
There's a pine tree on which priest Nichiren put his clothes when he washed his legs.

Bamboo forest is beautiful here.

When we had civil wars, feudal loads around here stopped by this shrine to prey for their victory.

This shrine has a red Ryobu Torii Gate with support legs just like Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima. This Torii Gate is right at the edge of the pond.
