Human beings have acquired highly developed adaptive capabilities to the environment. There're figures of an Australopithecines, Homo erectus and Neanderthal including the origin of human beings, Lucy.

Evolution of Life on B1F exhibits Exploring the Mysteries of Dinosaur Evolution.

There're a lot of mysteries including the origin of dinosaurs, their increase in size, diversification and their extinction.

Skeletons of Dinosaurs including Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops and Stegosaurus are standing there.

Global Gallery 3F ComPass - National Museum of Nature and Science

Compass on the 3rd floor is exploring area for families with little children aged 4 to 6.

This is the playground with wooden rooms with nets and stairs.
Unique part is stuffed animals in /on the room.

You need ticket provided by machine next to information desk on the 1st floor.

Global Gallery 2F - National Museum of Nature and Science

Exhibitions on the 2nd floor are Investigation Technology for the Earth and Progress in Science and Technology.

Exhibitions show some Japanese inventions from the Edo period onwards.

Exhibitions include a clock to show the movement of the Sun and Moon, a mechanical doll and Zero Fighter which was modified to Two-seater.

On the 3rd floor of Japan Gallery, Nature of the Japanese Islands and History of Japanese Islands are exhibited.

There're collections of Ammonite fossils, Plesiosaur fossil, Meteorites fallen in Japan and Minerals in Japan etc.  

The complex topography and climate of the natural environment has given rise to diverse forms of life in the Japanese Islands.

Japan Gallery 2F - National Museum of Nature and Science

"Organization of the Japanese Islands" and "Japanese People and Nature" are themes of the 2nd floor of Japan Gallery.

Exhibitions show long history of living organisms and relations between people and nature.

There're many stuffing animals including famous individuals.
Akita-inu is Hachi who had been waiting for his master at Shibuya station even after his master's sudden death.

Sakhalin husky is Jiro who was found in the base after one year of absence of Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition.

Japan Gallery 1F - National Museum of Nature and Science

On the 1st floor of Japan Gallery, there's an exhibition hall to have temporary exhibitions. Regular exhibitions are on the other side of the main hall, which has Techniques in Observing Nature. Tools, instruments, crafted objects and so on are there.

You'll enjoy building of Japan Gallery which was built in 1931.
This Neo-Renaissance style architecture has the shape of the airplane if you see from the sky.
