The Japanese Sword Museum

The Japanese Sword Museum has about 190 items related to Japanese swords including National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties.

This museum is planning to move to Ryogoku.
New museum will open in January in 2018.

Current exhibition until the end of March is the final exhibition in current museum.
Taking photo in the museum is prohibited usually, but it's OK to take pictures only in this last exhibition.

Tokyo Metropolitan Medicinal Plants Garden

Tokyo Metropolitan Medicinal Garden has many plants which can be used as medicine.
There're different fields for different type of plants.

Unique area is the one filled with plants with poison.
The field of poppy and hemp is surrounded by the fence and locked up.

A greenhouse has tropical plants.

Tamagawa Jousui

Jousui means water supply.
Tamagawa jousui used to be a water supply in Edo era.
It looks like a river but it's man made canal.

Now it's a promenade along the canal.
To go to Museum of Sewerage, you need to walk along Tamagawa Jousui which was water supply canal.

Museum of Sewerage

Very unique exhibition of this museum is the real sewer.
You can get into the real sewer.

There's a bridge in the tunnel of sewer where you can see, smell and feel real sewer.

It's 25 m under the ground level.
There're exhibition rooms on each floor.
You can learn history and system of sewerage in Japan.

Tokyo Station - Granroof

There's a pedestrian deck with a huge roof between North Tower and South Tower at JR Tokyo Station. Roof is 230 m long and motif is a sail.

Walls have plants on the surface.

There're many restaurants under the roof on 3rd floor through B1 floor.

Tokyo Station Gallery

Tokyo Station Gallery is located in the North Dome of Marunouchi building of Tokyo station.

Exhibition rooms are on the 3rd floor and the 2nd floor.
3rd floor has white walls and 2nd floor has historical brick walls.

Stairs between floors are surrounded by brick walls, too.
This building was built in 1914 and you can see the original brick walls in this stair hall.

Museum shop on the 2nd floor has unique items related to trains and Tokyo station.

Takinogawa Hachiman Shrine

Takinogawa Hachiman Shrine was established in 1202 according to one estimate.

Main hall was restored in 1885 and prayers hall was restored in 1922.

This place used to be a market of vegetables' seeds.

Kita City Central Park

This place used to be Japanese Army's Arsenal.
After the World War II, U.S. Army took over this place and returned to Japan in 1971.

A part of the area remains as a base of Japan's Self-Defense Force and the other part became the park.

White building was brown when it was the office of the army.
Now it's open to public as culture center.

Nanasha Shrine

Nobody knows the history of this shrine since all records were burnt down in big fire in 1793.
Original shrine was in Kyu Furukawa Garden and transferred to the current place at the beginning of Meiji era.

Torii gate is located right next to Nishigahara Ichirizuka (Mile Stone).
