Kuhombutsu - Approach and Emmado Hall

This temple is known as Kuhombutsu but official name is Joshinji Temple.
Kuhombutsu means nine different level of rebirth in Paradise and this temple has 9 statues of Amida Nyorai in 3 Amidado buildings.

This temple has a long approach with pine trees.

After you go through the entrance gate, you'll find Emmado hall.
There's a statue of Emma Daio and a statue of Datsueba in the hall.

Emma Daio or King of the hell judges the dead who came to the hell.
The dead may be sent to different kind of the hell.
If the dead lies, he may pull out its tongue using a huge puller.

Datsueba serves to Emma Daio.
She is at the Sanzu no Kawa which is a river between this world and the other world.
She takes off the clothing of the dead to weigh its sin.

Noge Otsuka Ancient Tomb

There's a mound in Tamagawa Noge Park.
This ancient tomb was known in Edo era but had an excavation investigation in 1897.

Four stone coffins were discovered.

A lot of goods were found such as armors, swards, millers, accessories, tools etc.
Most of them are stored in Tokyo National Museum.

Tomb is 11 meters high with the shape of combination of 66 diameters round mound and a little square.

Todoroki Valley - Todoroki Fudoson

The other side of the river of Chigo Daishido, there's a waterfall and are several shrines.
There're stairs to go up to the hill.

On top of the hill, there's Todoroki Fudoson Temple.
The principal image was made about 1300 years ago, and a priest was looking for the place to settle about 800 years ago. He found a waterfall here and decided this was the place.

Todoroki Valley - Chigo Taishido

There's a little hut with a statue at the end of the walk.
This is a statue of Kobo Daishi in childhood.
He is one of the greatest priests of Buddhism in Japan.

Todoroki Valley

Todoroki Valley is only valley left in Tokyo 23 wards.
You'll be in a valley surrounded by natural trees after only a few minutes walk from a train station in the city.

You can enjoy about 1 km walk along Yazawagawa River.

Hatakeyama Memorial Museum of Fine Art

Hatakeyama Memorial Museum of Fine Art is a museum focused on Chanoyu or Tea ceremony.
There're several tea houses in the garden.

Exhibitions are all related to tea ceremony like china, pots, containers, spoons etc.
They have vases and arts to be decorated in a tea room.

There is a tatami room to serve green tea in the museum.

This small museum exhibits everything about logistics in Japan.
You can learn about history of logistics in Japan on the first floor.
And you'll find a diorama of modern logistics on B1 floor.

This museum has many screens that you can touch panel to learn about logistics.
Also, there're hands-on items so that you can experience something related to logistics.

Ikegami Hommonji Temple - Daibo Hongyoji

Daibo Hongyoji is the site where Nichiren passed away about 700 years ago.
It's located at the bottom of the hill from main area of the temple.

There's another colorful pagoda which is called Tahoto.
It means "many treasures pagoda".
This was crematory of Nichiren.

Ikegami Hommonji Temple - Pagoda and Graveyard

There's a five story pagoda in the graveyard area in Ikegami Hommonji Temple.
This is the oldest five story pagoda in East Japan built in 1701.

Also, there's a grave of Rikidozan, a famous professional wrestler in 1950's.
