Akasaka Hikawa Shrine

Akasaka Hikawa Shrine is one of 261 Hikawa Shrines in Japan.
68 of them are in Tokyo and 162 of them are in Saitama Prefecture, neighbor of Tokyo.

The original shrine was established in 951 near current place.
When Kanto area had a drought in 1066, people prayed here for rain and they had rain.
After this, many ceremony was held here.

It's moved to current location in 1730 by the order of Shogun.

There's a huge area with fences in Roppongi.
American Embassy Staff Quarters have many apartment complexes.

It looks like accumulated white blocks.

Mori Museum

Mori Museum is located on the 53rd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower.
Exhibitions of modern art are held here.

Since Roppongi City never sleeps this museum is open until 10:00 pm.
You can get to the open air Sky Deck for additional 500 yen.

Tokyo City View (Observatory) requires other ticket.

Hinokicho Park

Hinokicho Park is in Tokyo Midtown and it has a Japanese garden with streams and a pond.
Also, it has lawn space and kids park with swings and slides.

Japanese garden has rest house beside the pond and it's like an oasis surrounded by high rise buildings.

Tokyo Midtown

Tokyo Midtown is a big commercial complex with stores, restaurants, museums, hotels, residences and parks.

Shops and restaurants are in the big mall "Galleria".
Suntory Museum is in the same building.

21_21 Design Site is on the other side of the garden.

Fuji Film Square including free museum is in the Midtown West building.

Many events are held inside and/or outside of the building.

Mohri Garden

Mohri Garden is a Japanese garden right next to Mori Tower at Roppongi Hills.
This area was urban villa of Hidemoto Mohri, feudal load in Edo era.

A new garden was rebuilt when Roppongi Hills area was developed in 2003.
This garden is small but has a pond and stream with waterfall surrounded by trees.

Roppongi Hills

Roppongi Hills is a commercial complex with Mori Tower Building.
It has an observatory (Tokyo City View), museums, residence, hotel, movie theater, TV station, radio station, restaurants and shops.

There's a Japanese garden (Mohri Garden) beside the building.
An object of the spider is kind of the symbol of this place and it's called Maman.

The National Art Center, Tokyo

The National Art Center, Tokyo is a unique impressive glass building in Roppongi.
This has the largest exhibition space in Japan, however, it doesn't own any arts by itself.
So, strictly speaking, this place is not the museum but the art exhibition space.

There's a little hut in front of the building.
This is just for umbrella holders.

Inside of the glass wall, upside down corn shape objects have a restaurant and a cafe on the top.

This building looks like Tokyo International Forum in Yurakucho.

 

Tokyo City View

Roppongi town never sleeps.
"Tokyo City View" is an obsevatory with nice scenic view in Roppongi Hills.
You can go out to the open-air rooftop "Sky deck".

Tokyo Tower from here looks very nice, too.
