Meiji Gakuin University Campus

Meiji Gakuin University Campus in Shirokanedai has some historical buildings.

Memorial Hall in Neo Gothic style was built in 1890.
Chapel with a pipe organ was built in 1916.
Imbrie Hall was built around 1889 as a missionary house for Dr. William Imbrie.

Institute for Nature Study

Institute for Nature Study belongs to National Museum of Nature and Science.
This big garden is maintained this place as natural as possible.

I cannot believe that I'm in Tokyo whenever I take a walk in here.

Because of variety of plants, you can enjoy many different kinds of flowers and leaves.

Especially, autumn leaves are beautiful with red leaves, yellow leaves and mixture with green leaves.

Plants are natural but paths are well maintained.

Shirokanedai is known as high class residential area.
Even Don Quijote (Discount Store) has different looking in this town.
As it's named Platinum Don Quijote, Shirokane means platinum.

Platinum Street has stylish restaurants and stores.

This walking tour visits some nice gardens and museums.

Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum

This museum used to be the residence of Prince Asaka.
You will enjoy not only exhibitions but also art-deco style rooms and building itself.

Recently, new building were built connecting to the original building.
New building has large exhibition rooms, museum shop and cafeteria.

"Teien" means gardens.
There are Japanese style garden and European style garden.

Matsuoka Museum

Arts in Matsuoka Museum are personal collection of Seijiro Matsuoka, the owner of a real state company. This quiet fine museum is in Shirokanedai. Shirokanedai is known as a town of rich people.

This small museum has 7 exhibition rooms including lobby.
Room 4 to 7 are on the second floor and may have special exhibitions.

Happoen Gardens

Happoen is a wedding place which has beautiful gardens on a slope.
Gardens are open for public.

They have some huts for tea ceremony, bonsais, stone lanterns, etc. in the gardens.
These make the view very Japanese with autumn leaves.
There's a pond and a fall at the bottom of the hill.

A part of the wedding party may be held in the gardens.
